Ray Ortiz and Jonathan Law secured another jury trial win for their client, State Farm Lloyds, in a first-party insurance case including extra-contractual and breach of contract claims in Hidalgo County, Texas. On January 26, 2016, the 389th Judicial District Court of Hidalgo County, Texas called the case, Cause No. C-3260-13-H; Ram Tolani et al v. State Farm Lloyds et al, for trial and on February 2, 2016, the jury returned a unanimous take nothing verdict in favor of State Farm. Plaintiffs alleged that State Farm had improperly adjusted a hail claim. Trial judge was the Honorable Letty Lopez. Plaintiffs were represented by Brownsville attorney Trey Mendez and Austin attorney Pete Ferraro.
San Antonio Firm, Ortiz & Law victorious in wind/hail claim trial
Ray Ortiz and Jonathan Law obtained a victory for State Farm Lloyds in a three day trial in Live Oak County District Court. In Cause No. L-14-0185-CV-C, Yadira Adame v. State Farm Lloyds, the Plaintiff alleged causes of action for breach of contract as well as violations of the duty of good faith and fair dealing, the DTPA and Insurance Code all based on allegations that State Farm had improperly adjusted a wind/hail claim. The trial was completed on June 18, 2015, when the jury unanimously answered all questions in favor of State Farm. Trial judge was Judge Janna Whatley. The verdict was upheld on appeal to the 13th District, Corpus Christi, Court of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court recently denied Plaintiff’s petition for review. Plaintiff was represented at trial by the Allan, Nava, Glander and Holland Law Firm.
